Hallauer Vineyards was planted during the spring of 1998. The Certified organic vineyard is located on a relatively
steep hillside on the South Eastern side of Ballard Canon, which is becoming a special viticultural designated area in
the middle of Santa Ynez Valley. Other highly regarded vineyards such as Larner, Stolpman and Purisima Mountain
also call Ballard Canyon their home and are all garnering great respect for producing world class wines. Dr.
Wolfgang Hallauer, owner of his estate vineyard and long time General Physician in the Santa Ynez Valley owns and
practices at the Buellton Medical Clinic and has done so for the last twenty years. Dr. Hallauer has a special passion
for growing wine grapes and proudly claims that winemaking has been in his family heritage since 975 A.D. The
winemaking is in the very capable hands of Jason Drew. His wine industry resume includes an advanced oenology
degree from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, as well as hands-on winemaking stints at Joseph Phelps,
Corison, Luna and Babcock wineries. Jason’s focus is on creating highly expressive wines that are classically
proportioned and balanced.
Jalama Beach Cafe “Wine Maker Dinners” are served from 5:00 p.m. until closing time, which is 9:00 (more or less).
The Wine Maker Dinner menu is created with the wine maker to tailor each course to each of the different wines
we will be pouring. Each course is served at your leisure, so you can take your time and enjoy the food and the
wines. The Wine makers are here to pour & discuss the different wines we will be serving, and to answer any
questions you may have. The regular menu is also available for those who prefer something different, and the wine
tasting is available without the four course meal for $19.00 per person.
The dinners are casual & fun, and the food is Five Star!!!
